Waterberg FET College
The Central office is situated along the major arterial road in Mokopane, the Thabo Mbeki Drive and is designed to have a very strong presence along this street. It is the second building of the total envisioned future campus on the same site and responds to the growing demand of quality office space for the Waterberg FET College. The total space designed is approximately 1600sqm and comprises cellular offices, communal spaces and related service areas. The building is designed around an enclosed landscaped courtyard. The courtyard effectively serves the dual purpose to provide a green space extension to the offices as well as to facilitate natural cooling. An exciting combination of spaces, both externally and internally, was derived by adopting the courtyard concept.
The building form is comprised of two office wings linked by two spatial circulation bridges; the first one echoes Thabo Mbeki Street and maintains a strong visual link, while the second one cuts the building diagonally to create a dynamic axis to enliven the composition and enclose the courtyard.
